YARDLEY AND DISTRICT RAMBLING CLUB . Page 1.
ABOUT US :-
The club was formed in 1980 by George Bates and today has an active membership of 50. An invitation for walkers to join the YDRC appeared in Jack Schats column (Weekend Walks) of The Birmingham Evening Mail on Saturday January 19, 1980. Following the response, a new group of walkers met on the 27th January 1980 for a 7 mile walk in the Hampton in Arden area. The inaugural meeting of the YDRC was held on 25th February 1980.
We are a friendly club and always welcome new members of all ages. If you are interested, please e-mail: liz.allister@virgin.net for further information.
We organise a varied programme of walks averaging 7 to10 miles, on alternate Sundays, in different areas of our Midland countryside. Other events include two club weekends (spring and autumn), an annual coach ramble, and various social events. We are a sociable group and our walk leaders will always arrange a lunchtime break at a convenient Inn or public house for refreshments. Please bring a packed lunch as we have to limit this break to approx. 1 hour.
Prospective members are very welcome and may attend up to 3 walks before being required to join the club. Our annual subscription for 2007 is £8.
