El Mundo Mythico

This is a proposed "special interest group" for wargamers gaming (or considering gaming) twentieth-century warfare in mythical South American countries!

At present there are three of us (two in Cornwall, one in Wilts) each with a slightly different "gaming world". Mine is centered around the highly dubious state of Mezaguay. Following an abortive (though freely elected) socialist regime in the late 50s, a military coup gave power to El Presidente, General Gonzales. With US backing, he has reigned supreme until his death (of natural causes?) in 1985. At this point, his designated successor (Snr. Jose Gomes, a civilian) attempted to take over the reins of power. This has unleashed a whole range of forces against him, including the elusive FPM (Fronto Populaire del Mezagua - communist guerrillas), the neighbouring (communist) state of Morea, the Action Francaise rebels in the previously French province of Nueva Francia, and rebel generals from his own army. With only his Presidential Guard, the dreaded "Los Dedos" (The Fingers - secret police) and the combat-trained riot police definitely on his side, El Presidente has a tough time of it!

This is the sort of thing which "El Mundo Mythico" is intended to promote. We are looking to run an informal "discussion group" with an irregular newsletter containing write-ups of battles, campaign snippets, ideas for scenarios, equipment availability (real and in miniature), conversion projects, etc.

If you are interested in joining, please e-mail me and I'll keep you informed on progress! (It is not intended to be a profit making scheme - the only charges are likely to be for postage. The idea is that every member sends three or four SSAEs to the "secretary" and we send out copies of the newsletter as it appears).
