I have received the following from JJ.
Regarding his recent trip to Japan he said:
" Japan was amazing although I didn't go for 7th dan. There's far more to prepare and learn yet before I'm ready. However, it did give me the chance to play a lot and write some. I was isolated halfway up a volcano and since it was the change of seasons some days I was stuck in the dojo during storms, all alone with only my guitar as companion. I played a couple of accoustic solo gigs in Shinjuku,Tokyo, which was great fun and had the opportunity to renew acquaintance with some long standing Japanese fans which was was great. I think I wrote the most beautiful song I've ever written. Will have to see how it records."
Asked about any new Stranglers material and the Uk tour later in the year JJ added,
"We'll probably start recording and rehearsing next year but I want to return to Japan in the spring. I doubt whether there will be any new material for this tour but we will try to cover every period."
JJ concluded with the startling news regarding his sight "I had to have an emergency operation last week to save my right eye. I had a detached retina. It's on the mend now." The injury is apparently the result of JJ's many years of Karate combat.
Many thanks to JJ for this and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
