The property is situated in a rural position just to the north (1.2km) of Salernes, a village famous for centuries as the centre of ceramics. There are beautiful old villages in every direction including Entrecasteaux, Villecroze (mediaeval) and Tourtour (one of the most beautiful villages in France), which is visible from the back of the house, and looks particularly impressive in the evening towards sunset. Also nearby are Sillans la Cascade, Aups, Flayosc and Cotignac, set dramatically under a huge rockface. All of these are 10-20 minutes away by car.
There is an excellent choice of local restaurants,
details of which will be provided at the villa. Further afield, about 40 minutes drive north, there is Lac St Croix (sailing and swimming), and the spectacular Gorge de Verdon, perfect for hiking and rock-climbing amid outstanding scenery. To the South are the famous resorts of the Cote d'Azur - St Tropez, Nice, Cannes and Monte Carlo. Local activities include: river swimming near Salernes, in a pool originally created by the Romans; horse riding and trekking; cycling (bike hire in Salernes) and walking. There are several golf courses in the area and tennis facilities nearby. Airports:
