Chatham Unitarian Church

Who are we?

We are a liberal religious community which recognises the deeply personal nature of religious faith. We welcome a diversity of viewpoints, and impose no creed or dogma.

In Britain, Unitarianism emerged in the 1700s as part of the radical wing of the Protestant Reformation. The early Unitarians were so called because they emphasised the unity of God.

Many present-day Unitarians continue to uphold the liberal Christian tradition, whilst others are inclined toward a different world-view - such as Buddhism, humanism or paganism. Through dialogue with one another and a shared recognition of the sacred, we seek to discover our 'unity in diversity'.
