Just the Way I Am
The sound of the seagulls
The taste of the sea
These are the memories
Calling to me.

The trickle of sand
Through curled up toes
Where does the magic go?
Nobody knows!

I'll water these while Mumm's out,
I don't think she'll mind.
Today is 'Mummy's Day', you see,
And well, I'm feeling rather kind.

This morning I made her tea and stuff,
Then gave a great big SHOUT:
'Breakfast's ready .. sausage, egg and ...'
That's when the plasticine ran out!

Touched by majick
Bound by a spell
Showing the Dream
We all know so well.

Whisper your words
And I'll catch them .. and know
You're thinking of me
Wherever I go.

There's a boat come in the harbour
With a sail so big and white
It looks like one of Mummy's sheets
Left on the line all night.

The boat could be the Cutty Sark
That's sailed across the sea
Collecting things from India
Like Ivory and Tea.

The boat could be a Pirate ship
With Pirate crew on board,
A skull and crossbones on the mast
And on board treasure stored.

I'm going down to see it,
I'll run down to the quay.
I want to watch it when it sails but ..
I'll be back for tea!

I went to stay with Nana and Gramp
Just for a week or two.
Mum was busy writing
And Dad had lots to do.

I didn't think I'd like it,
I wanted to go home.
I packed my toothbrush in my bag
My 'jamas and a comb.

I waited there till midnight,
Till they were counting sheep.
But I was still there when they awoke,
I'd fallen fast asleep!

The next few nights I cried a lot,
I missed my Mum and Dad.
Then things started to get better
And I didn't feel so bad.

Gramp found some Lego bricks like mine,
Nana read to me like Mum.
We went to look at toys in shops,
And I was glad I'd come.

When Mum and Dad came in the car
I told them all I'd done;
I asked if I could stay again
I'd had a lot of fun!

Mummy said I must be brave
She said it wouldn't hurt,
But when we got to see the man
I hid behind her skirt.

He had a big white coat on,
His shoes squeaked when he walked.
The spectacles perched on his nose
Fell off each time he talked.

His chair was black and shiny,
And Mummy held my hand
While I said 'Aah', and 'Cheese', and 'Ouch!'
It made a lovely sound!

He poked about inside my mouth,
He muttered all the time.
Then sat back in his chair and said:
'Right! That's it! That's fine!'

I think he's called 'A Dentist',
But I'm not really sure.
And if I have to go again ...
I'll keep my mouth shut more!

The touch of loneliness
The taste of desire
To reach for the Dream
For which we aspire.
To climb up a rainbow
And discover just why
There's a place for us waiting
Where land touches sky.

It's a place where we meet
Right under the tree
And I go when I hear
Unicorns calling to me.
They touch my Soul
They set me free
My Unicorn Home
Is where I long to be.
