The Takeover

We all know (well most of us anyways) that Coventry has the naffest radio stations this side of Mercia and Kix96. Imagine my surprise (with the help of the adverts alerting of such an event in town) of a new radio station gracing the polluted Coventarian airwaves. Even more surprising is that it doesn't consist solely of the MTV recycled nonscence we're all constantly pumped with consciously and subconscoiusly, but of Hip Hop and Grime (bring on the Dubstep and Reggae) this side of 2pm in the afternoon. Finally Cov has a radio station we can listen to on the wireless without feeling embarassed about it. You know you need to lock on.

They say it's a trial period, but lets hope it can stay on the FM dial for good. For once, real music with real people. 102.6 FM.

"From 6th June to 3rd July, across Coventry HILLZ FM is broadcasting from their Hillfields studio. As a community radio station aimed at young people this is the first trial on FM after establishing an internet radio service earlier this year. The programming is diverse and varied, with members of the community and young people taking the mic!"
