'MIRROR MIRROR'

A NEW PLAY IN COLLABORATION WITH THE UK
EATING DISORDER ASSOCIATION

The Company are currently working on their latest play dealing with the causes, effects and treatments of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia.

Over the last few months, The Company has worked closely with the UK Eating Disorder Association (EDA) to develop a detailed understanding of the disorders and to develop a piece of theatre that tackles this difficult and often misunderstood area.

The piece continues The Company's determination to explore, inform and entertain using theatre as a medium to reach audience's minds as well as hearts, and uses innovative visual techniques and an original score to do this.

The Company has taken its time developing the new play as a comprehensive understanding of the disorders, discussions with current and recovering sufferers, and a sure sense of what we aim to achieve from touring the piece, are vital if we are to reach our audiences in a positive way.

As with any devised theatre
- Research Is All -
and The Company understand the importance of communicating a message and experience that enables the audience to appreciate the importance and complexity of such a subject matter.

WORKSHOPS FOR SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES

Education and Evaluation is an important part of this new play.

As part of any performance booking made by a school or university, The Company are willing to provide pre- and post-show practical workshops or talks where The Company members will work with audience groups to expand their understanding and experience of the play, eating disorders and the techniques used to produce devised theatre.

Workshops on offer include:

* Understanding Eating Disorders

* The Devising Process and Theatrical Technique

* Music Composition and Technology

As money is scarse in education, the play is designed to appeal to
Years 11-13
General Studies/PSHE, Theatre Studies/Drama
and
Music/Music Technology,
so schools especially can share the cost of The Company performing and conducting workshops between departments.

Also available are Education Support Resources that provide:

* Lesson Activities for pre- and post-show use

* Additional Information on Eating Disorders

* Useful Support Organisations and Websites
