Terry's  3  0  Westbridge Utd

Terry's kept their championship challenge on course with a victory over lowly Westbridge, with full back Andy Healy sealing the win with his first goal in four seasons of football.  But it was hardly a convincing display but at this stage of the season it's results and not performances that count.  With pitches getting drier and harder, it was never going to be a classic game, and a blustery wind helped to ensure that the ball was out of play more than in it.  It was the difficult conditions that lead to the creation and squandering of early chances for Terry's, with a high bouncing ball unsettling the Westbridge defence, but also making it difficult for anyone to get a meaning effort in on target.  When Terry's did create opportunities, Dean Gumm's showed his intention to be the leading scorer in the division, and failed to release better place team mates in better positions.  When the breakthrough did come, it was Winterbottom reacting fastest to a miscued Gumm shot to slide the ball into the net, as the visitors appealed for offside.  Gumm added a second 5 minutes from half-time, latching on to a Gorton flick to chip the stranded 'keeper, but there was still time for Westbridge to create and miss two good opportunities that could have kept the game alive.  It was the visitors who dominated the second half, pinning Terry's back, with most of the game being a series of long throw-ins as the influence of the wind on the game became stronger.  But despite the pressure Westbridge failed to create an real chances, although Binns in goal produced one stunning save after a Fox shot had been deflected.  It was left to Andy Healy to wrap up the game when he latched onto a partly cleared cross to pass the ball into the bottom corner of the net from 15 yards, and record his first goal for four seasons.  Terry's remain a point behind West Lavington with a game in hand, but have tough trips to West End Wanderers and Maud Heath to survive if they are to win a title for the second consecutive year.
