Many local people have suggested that it would be a generous and commercially viable option for United Utilities Plc to donate, or sell to Salford Council for a nominal fee, their land that forms part of Swinton Park.
Clearly, only United Utilities management will know if this is worth them considering.
With it's current status as mixed use land it has a higher value than it will have when it is redesignated as recreation land.
Presumeably if United Utilities were to make this donation before its designation of use was changed they could claim higher tax relief based on the current value of their land - the curtilage of the former Swinton Sewage Works.
