The Government
Inspector Play by Nikolai Gogol (Revizor, 1836). Peter Hall's 1966 production of Gogol's classic comedy of small town corruption was brilliantly cast. Paul Scofield played the leading role, the impostor Khlestakov, supported by Eric Porter (they had last acted together as members of John Gielgud's company at the Lyric Hammersmith in 1953), David Warner, Paul Rogers, Brewster Mason and David Waller. |
