Kerry Condon

Kerry Condon, a teenager from Thurles in Tipperary, had never acted before when she tried her luck at an open audition for Alan Parker's Angela's Ashes (1999). She was cast in the small but pivotal role of Theresa. The next year saw her playing a schoolgirl in the BBC's Ballykissangel; Pete Postlethwaite's daughter in the film Rat (Steve Barron); and Girleen in Martin McDonagh's The Lonesome West (Liverpool Everyman, 2000).

At the RSC, 2001-02, she played contrasting roles—a fragile contemporary Ophelia in Hamlet (Steven Pimlott, RST, Barbican), and the psychotic Mairead (summer dress, workman's boots, air rifle) in McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore (Wilson Milam, TOP, Pit).

A promising career in films is now unfolding: How Harry Became a Tree (2001); Ned Kelly's sister in Ned Kelly (2003); Intermission (John Crowley, 2003); the female lead, opposite Morgan Freeman, in Danny the Dog (2004); Octavia in Rome (BBC, 2005-07).
Actress, b. Tipperary, Ireland, [1983]
