As a human in the 1800's in London, England, Spike was known then as William the Bloody; named so because he wrote bloody awful poetry. In 1880, he was sired by Drusilla and got the name "Spike" because of his love for torturing victims with railroad spikes. Spike has killed two Slayers; the first one during the Boxer Rebellion (from which he received a scar over his left eyebrow) and the second in New York (whose trench coat he still wears).
