Ok so lets think about this, is it that biology drives us to seek a partner in life? Is it that we are driven to reproduce and this drive makes us feel incomplete when we are alone? Touch is reckoned to produce endorphins, which make us feel good, so do we become addicted to touch? Do we mistake touch for love? Is love really an intellectual and spiritual feeling? Is it not that it is just a chemical reaction happening within our physical being that makes us believe that we are in love when all that is really happening is that we are needing to reproduce? Why do we get bored with a partner? Is this a sign that we are programmed to have a diversity of genes in our pool and reproduction with one partner is going against this? Is this Biology why we feel lonely and depressed when we live alone? Is it all a physical, chemical symptom?
Those of us that are hopeless romantics (and I count myself as one), what is it that we truly seek? We seek a spiritual union with another, where we are one with the other person truly understanding every part of them and them us. Is this a possibility in our physical form? Isn’t what we really seek something that we have experienced before our physical form and will again experience after it?
So is seeking this ‘Union’ a mistake? Wouldn’t it be that we can be much happier if we understand that a spiritual or if you like romantic union isn’t going to be achieved by seeking a physical one, and if we rose above this need for physical contact?
