ok. so the first part in wandsworth councils plan to close the zoo has been passed. At a meeting of the council a vote of six against two saw the fist benchmark passed and putting the council ever closer to carrying out a criminal act against the people of the borough. The meeting did throw up some ineresting points highlighted by labour councilor Stuart King, who is fighting to keep the zoo open, has discovered that the leasing of the site to a private investor will net Wandsworth council a quarter of a million pounds per year, to which they had no choice to begrudgingly admit.
Another point raised was that the draft for the proposed closure that councilor King recieved was numbered eleven, "why", he added, "had he nor any other labour councilors been privy to drafts 1 - 10 unlike the conservative councilors who had been". Could it be that until the press leak they were hoping to be able to pass this through without any discent from its troublesome residents.
The popularuity of the conservative run wandsworth council is now at an all time low with cuts to numerous services, many of which are connected with children. I dare say that the revenue from the zoo site will help to counter some of the short-fall that has occured due to the false ecconomy that has arisen due to the vote winning policy of low council tax, now increased by 45%.
The next two council meetings are of vital importance if we stand any chance of stopping this criminal act. May the 6th and May the 14th are dates for the diary. We need as many people at the meetings to try and get the council to see sense. The final meeting on the 14th of May is the full council meeting where the decision will be finalised. Please make the effort to be there and involve as many peiople as possible.
