This site has been produced in order to try and prevent the closure of battersea park children's zoo at the end of the summer season 2003. Wandsworth council have decided to rubber stamp the closer in order to allow a private contractor to develop the site, thus allowing the council to omit themselves from having to fund the excisting zoo, which has been a fixture of the park since 1951. The site will give the history of the zoo, the background to the proposed closure, contact numbers and email addresses to allow objections and protest to the closure to be placed with those involved in the closure. The site will also give details of contacts for the campaign group that has been setup to appose the closure and counter proposals for the upgrading and development of battersea zoo.
