After six years skipper of the victory.i was fortunate to be asked by Jack Scott if I wanted to go into a partnership with Arthur Duthie for a new ship.An offer I could'nt refuse.

the boat was built away from the water,so they had to take it down in a low loader & launch her into the water with a crane.

the launch was a horrifing time for me as I don't like posing for photos & being the centre of attraction.I never like crowds but I had to go through with it to get the boat.

We were still going to sea in the Victory at the time of the launch.We landed on 19th.july.went to Addrossan to lanch the boat on the 21st,and was back at sea on the 23rd .

I'll never live it down when at the do in lossie I had to say a speech.As I had a few drinks earlier I was mumbling away when Jackie whispered to me mention the staff,so I did.Everthing went quiet until Jackie growled at me not the catering staff,the shipbuilding staff you idiot!
