Club members are involved in the building, running and exhibiting of Club model railway layouts in a range of scales. Layouts have been exhibited at Model Railway Exhibitions all over the SouthEast and East Anglia over the last eighteen years. Below is a list of club layouts that are available for exhibitions or will be in the future. Temporarily on hold pending completion of house extension works in 2005. This is planned to be HO based on a freight depot somewhere in down town America operated by the Union Pacific Railroad. The industries within the depot will allow a varied range of rolling stock on the layout. There will be no fixed time period to allow a mixture of old and modern locomotives and rolling stock. DALE JUNCTION - American N (Tony Noad* 01763 848 424) Based on the Union Pacific Railroad mainline at Dale Junction on Sherman Hill Wyoming, in the USA. The layout portrays typical trains across the Hill over the time period from 1940’s upto the present day. Size: (oval) 18’3” x 5’6” includes operating space. Exhibitions attended: Royston 1997, Sawston 1998, Royston 1999, Maidstone 2000, East Anglia 2001, Hoddesdon 2001 , High Wycombe 2001, Norwich 2002, Banbury N gauge 2002, Chelmsford 2002, Banbury 2003, Enfield Town 2003 Gt. Yarmouth 2003, Cambridge (31A) Mar 2004. Expenses: Petrol for 2 cars; Operators: 3/4. SMITH'S END - GWR 00 1937-1947 (John Dean* 01763 246 340, Geoff Apperley & Tony Clarke) Based on a 1930’s Great Western town goods yard with various factories, coal facilities and goods shed. Mix of shunting operations and through traffic. Size: (U shaped) 16’ x 6’ 6” includes operating space Exhibitions attended: Sudbury 1998, East Anglia 1999, Royston 2000, Sandy 2001, Norwich 2002, Hoddesdon 2002 , Letchworth 2002 , Sawston 2003, Hertford 2003. Expenses: Petrol for 2 cars; Operators: 3/4. APPLETON DENE NARROW GAUGE 0-16.5 Appleton - Track and rakes completed; scenery/buildings under construction. Sited in the West Country with shunting and industrial activity (John Dean* 01763 246 340, Geoff Apperley & Tony Clarke). Exhibitions attended: Royston 2003. N gauge BR - To be named.
