This is the small projection room for screen 3. This projection room had both a tower (just to the left of the photograph) and a platter or 'cakestand' on which the films lie flat instead of upright.

As this room was in the basement of the building, away from prying eyes, some projectionists liked to have a sneaky cigarette down here (the cinema equivalent of a school child smoking behind the science block).

Screen 3. Just to the right of the platter is the fire exit which leads into screen 3.

Light Well. Round to your left is the way out of the projection room which leads to the light well and the gents lavatory.
