This is the tiny under-stairs kitchen. Well, it's less a kitchen, more a sink in a cupboard.

As you can see, there is a small ledge you have to step over in order to enter the kitchen. Apparently this is where the floor level had been at one time in the past, long before the building was ever a cinema.
