About the Club

The Club is situated in the village of Poppleton on the west side of York.

We are at the Community Centre on Main Street, near the bowling green and school. For more precise details on our location, go to the Multimap website and type in our postcode YO26 6DL. This will give you a map and our precise location.

The Club has 6 porous tar macadam courts. The courts have been recently resurfaced and are kept in good condition by Jim Ferguson, who also helps with court maintenance.

Last year floodlights were put on 3 courts and have had good use this winter.

We also have a conservatory to provide a focal point to the club, shelter from the rain and somewhere to have tea. This also gives access to the toilets, changing rooms, showers and bar.

Pictures taken on a rainy day are available for the courts, floodlights, conservatory and grounds.

Club chairman John Lister, membership secretary Rod Clark and the rest of the committee are continually trying to expand and develop our facilities and work closely with the Lawn Tennis Association. There is a lot of work to be done and we are always looking for new members to help in the various activities. Please E-Mail me if you would be willing to participate.

Social tennis events are run at weekends and during the week.

Box leagues provide competitive play for members in single and doubles

We have 3 men’s, 3 ladies and 4 mixed teams entered in the local tennis leagues.

Individual and group coaching is available

We are also very keen to develop play for juniors of all ages and abilities.

Please E-mail me about any comments you have about this site or if you want any further details about the club.
