When I tell people that I am going on holiday to Poland, they look at me and reply with a "umm, that's nice". Most of the people I know have a very limited knowledge of Poland, mainly because they have never needed to know.
"It's cold all the time there you know!"

"Aren't they all Russians over that way?

"Can't you afford to go somewhere nicer?"

"They might lock you up as a spy!"

"What do you want to go there for?"

I'm sure these comments weren't meant to be insulting to the Polish nation, but it shows the lack of knowledge of what is a wonderful, beautiful, and historical country.

Poland is located in the central part of Europe. It borders Russia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovak Republic, Czech Republic and Germany.

It's position in Europe has caused it to suffer invasions, world wars, civil wars, foreign occupations, all in the last 100 years... something that a Englishman like me hasn't worried about since 1066!

In the future, it has the potential, provided care is taken, of becoming a powerful EU member... we shall see.

I have visited Poland five times now, and every time I travel there, I become more and more addicted.

I used to travel by coach as the price of flights were much higher in comparison. However, there is a cheap airline that has started at the end of 2003 - "Air Polonia".

I have also found that LOT Airlines (Polish National Airline) provide an excellent service direct to Krakow and if you book the flights in plenty of time, then the cost can compare well with the coach companies (and it only takes 2.30hours by plane!)

This site is going to be updated as and when I visit new places and meet new people. It is only a small, personal collection and I am aware that there is so much more to see and do.
