This, my personal best Barbel, was caught on the first night at about 12.30am. It came from a free stretch of the river Wensum which is very shallow and clear, hence only really fishable at night. I used a running ledger rig on 8lb main line and a 6lb braid hook length to a size four hook. I used a lump of beef luncheon meat over a bed of mixed hemp and groats.
Below another good fish from the same location but taken a couple of years previously. This was on a fixed ledger rig, again size four hook using campbell's meatballs in gravy."Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught"
