To view this site at it's best you should be able to see all of the divisions from white to black

Adjust the brightness control on your monitor until you can see the difference between the black division on the exteme right and the one next to it. Then set the contrast control for pleasant viewing brightness, with the leftmost division a bright white. This will probably be only a little off maximum.
