Going east on the M62 from Manchester and the M6, leave the M62 at Junction 21 and follow A640 to New Hey and Denshaw, A6052 to Delph and A62 for 5.5 miles (in the direction of Huddersfield).

By Bike
The West Yorkshire Cycleway is a 152 mile way-marked touring and holiday route using quiet lanes wherever possible. It follows the county boundary through scenery that varies from the pastoral charm of Wharfedale to the rugged hills of the South Pennines. Marsden, at its western extremity, makes a good starting point for a ride that includes Hebden Bridge, Haworth, Ilkley Moor, the market town of Wetherby, the RSPB bird sanctuary at Fairburn Ings and Pontefract Castle.
Two of Sustrans' national cycle routes also intersect in the village. Route 66 from east to west and Route 68 from south to north.

On Foot
Marsden makes a good place for an overnight stop for walkers on both the Pennine Way National Trail (PW) and the Alternative Pennine Way (APW). There are buses every hour to the village from the PW where it crosses the A62 at Standedge or you can walk the 3.1km between the PW and the village from Wessenden Lodge or the 5.2km between Marsden and the PW at Haigh Gutter on the A640. We will gladly arrange a pick up at Standedge for PW walkers.
The APW route goes through the village. It is used by walkers doing the JOGLE "End to End". Give or take a mile or two, Marsden marks the half way point between John o' Groats and Land's End.
