A cosy home to feel at home in
|
|
Pear Tree Cottage is a four-storey terrace house, one of a small estate of 46 workers' homes built of local stone by the Marsden Equitable Industrial Society for its members in 1913, still known locally as "the Co-op Row". There is a small garden at the back of the house, on the lower ground floor (pictured on our home page). It has a pear tree, "waterfall", Clematis-covered pergola and hammock - a pleasant place to relax when the weather is fine. Cyclists will find a secure cover for their bikes under the porch. This leads to a utility room with laundry and drying facilities, wc, hot power-shower and sauna cabin. Next door is the cosy dining-cum-common-room. Your hosts' kitchen and the lounge are on the ground floor. There is a bathroom/WC with hot power-shower and two guest bedrooms on the first floor . A folding bed and child's cot are also available. Your hosts have completed Basic Food Hygeine and the YHA's Voluntary Wardening Certificated Training and are holders of a Roy Castle "Gold" Good Air Award. We are members of the Pennine Yorkshire Tourism Association and the Pennine Way Association. Our guests are welcome to make use of our library and map collection which has lots of material on local history, walking, overseas travel, the Brontes and the Chartist movement. A wide selection of board games and Internet connection are also available!
