There are two main campsites in Saundersfoot. We chose 'The Old Mill' as it was nearer and had better access to the beach, pubs and shops. The disadvantage with this site was the slope of the field. Make sure you have strong zip fasteners on your tent if you don't want to end up at the foot of the hill by morning!! The other camp site is situated on the main road going out of town towards Tenby. Returning from town to this site involves a steep incline walk. However the site itself once you get there is much flatter than The Old Mill. The beach at Saundersfoot is sandy and has many rock pools for the kids to explore. The harbour is a good place for the kids to go crabbing. For the adults, The Chemist pub backs onto the beach where you can sup your favourite tipple whilst still keeping a close eye on the kids.
There are many boat trips and fishing trips to choose from...and you get to keep the fish you catch...lovely for the barbecue!!
There is a good selection of pubs and restaurants and all will allow children in as long as they are closely supervised.
Saundersfoot lends itself to being very close to Tenby, just a few miles up the road, where there are many high street stores and an even greater selection of pubs and restaurants.
Facilities at The Old Mill included Shower block, freezer, public telephone and toilets. Static caravans were also available for hire.
Starting at Coppet Hall beach, which is adjacent to the campsite, there is a short walk to Wisemans Bridge, which follows the now removed tram lines of the old iron works. A longer walk will, continuing in the same direction, take you to Amroth where there is a pub close to the beach.
Saundersfoot is a nice place to set up tent and barbecue...needless to say we have returned to the same site many times in recent years.
