Evans & Sons Ltd - Builders & Wheelwrights

The company has long since gone along with most of the family connected with it.
Evans & Sons was a small building company in Camberwell with connections to East Street market in South East London.

A wheelwright by trade, my grandfather built and supplied for rent many of the costermongers barrows for the market. Many of these barrows survive to this day all heavily engraved with the family name on the cross rails.

My name is Jack Evans I am 45 years old and live in Wales. I moved here with my wife some 15 years ago from whom I am now divorced. My son Jack lives with me and my partner and her son.

My Grandfather was Jack Evans and he was married to Priscilla Hyatt...they had five children Jack, Charles, Winifred, Peggy and Priscilla.

My father Jack Evans was first married to Pat (surname unknown) and she lived in Sansom Street Camberwell Green. They had two children Marilyn and Travina. I know that one of the girls worked in Gamages department store before its demise.

My father's second marriage was to Dorita and they had three children Jack, Dorita and Timothy.

I have spent hundreds of hours trying to trace family and friends and although having discovered many new facts I am yet to have contact with any of the family that may be left.

I would be grateful for any information connected with Evans & Sons in order that it may be documented for future reference. You may email me at Orc@chatnet.fsnet.co.uk
