Oakridge History Group

The Oakridge History Group was formed in 2000 to research and write a history of Oakridge. In 2003 a booklet was published, written by Pat Carrick and Juliet Shipman, which was a taster for the book which is now available. To purchase a copy please contact a mmber of the CommitteeThe book covers the villages and hamlets of Oakridge Lynch, Far Oakridge, Waterlane, Tunley and Bournes Green in the parish of Bisley, Gloucestershire mapThe material collected during the research for this book is now archived and can be accessed by contacting Pat Carrick. The group now has a membership of over 50 and arranges a programme of monthly meetings to which anyone with an interest in the history of the Oakridge is welcome.In October 2006 a new project was started where members are researching the history of their house. It is hoped that this will result in a permanent record of the history of all the houses in Oakridge. Members are now researching various families in Oakridge.An exhibition was held in the Village Hall on 21st and 22nd June 2008 from on "Oakridge Families" and further exhibitions are planned in 2009
