Why see a therapist now?

A current life crisis, specific problem or general troubling issue may be prompting you to look for a therapist right now. Perhaps you have been considering finding a therapist for some time because you are seeking answers to more existential inner questions like 'who am I' 'Where's my life heading' and so on and you want the opportunity to reflect on this and explore some possibilities. Or, it may be that 'being in therapy' and taking an in depth look at yourself is part of the requirement of your own professional training.

Problems concerning lack of confidence and self esteem, sexuality or intimacy issues or the desire to source the ability to communicate better with family, friends or your partner are common themes. However, you may come along with something very specific; a recent loss or trauma, a change in life circumstance perhaps.

Therapy provides a safe supportive, non judgemental environment in which to explore your problem(s) and look at some of the hurtful ways you may be relating to yourself and/or others. In this way, you may begin to make more informed choices and subsequently enhance the quality of your life experience; by integrating your learning and awareness in the therapy room into your everyday life.
