About the club
The club was formed in 1974 to help raise funds for the proposed New Mills Swimming Pool.
After the pool had been built, the members, having enjoyed the experience of staging the fund raising exhibitions, decided to carry on as New Mills and District Railway Modellers. Meetings were held in one of the local pubs and the first independent exhibition was organised. This proved to be a success and we were on our way. Many of those who were involved are still active members as we start organising what will be our 33rd exhibition to be held on 24th, 25th February 2007.
We are different to most clubs as we do not have club rooms or layouts. Our meetings are intended to be social gatherings with the minimum of business, the main aim being to stage the annual exhibition and enjoy our hobby.
Over the years a substantial part of our exhibition profits and other fund raising activities have supported local charities particularly Blythe House, High Peak Hospice Care. If you would like to help, please click the link below for more information.
