Katakana Mnemonics Set 3

Sound: sa

Mnemonic: sack - The guy who reaps the corn has been sacked for doing a lousy job. The symbol for "ri" has therefore been crossed out.

Sound: shi

Mnemonic: sheath - You remove a sword from its sheath, then you turn round and cut the sheath in half. In order to really remember this, don't forget to imagine gripping the sword with your hands; see it glint in the light and hear the sound it makes as you take it out of the sheath.

Sound: su

Mnemonic: Suzie - This symbol somewhat resembles the letter z (prounouce it "zee"). Remember the girl's name Suzie to make this link.

Sound: se

Mnemonic: Segway - This symbol is very similar to its hiragana equivalent. It shows the same Segway, but the strap has been torn and the occupant has disappeared. I fear some sort of accident may have occurred...

Sound: so

Mnemonic: softly - This is a picture of a wave breaking. It does so quite softly, only producing one drop of foam.
