Katakana Mnemonics Set 2

Sound: ka
Mnemonic: camel - You could remember this symbol simply by its similarity to the hiragana. Alternatively, notice that it is identical to the kanji meaning "strength", then let yourself imagine the Arnold Schwarzenegger of camels.

Sound: ki
Mnemonic: ki - Just like the hiragana for "ki" but with the bottom part cut off.

Sound: ku
Mnemonic: cool - This is a picture of a Y-shaped catapult (as used by Bart Simpson / Dennis the Menace). The long curved stroke in the bottom right is the broken elastic which hangs off to the side. Why is the elastic broken? It's because it has been frozen and partly shattered with very cool liquid nitrogen.

Sound: ke
Mnemonic: kill - Regard the long handle (bottom) and sharp blade (top left) of this axe. Imagine it brandished by a crazy guy shouting, in a Scottish accent, "Aarm gornna kell yer!"

Sound: ko
Mnemonic: copy - This time it is the first letter of the word "copy" that has been duplicated. However, the copying process has not worked perfectly, having produced only a mirror image of the letter c.
