Mnemonic: meat - This symbol looks like the letter H, the first letter of the word "ham", which is a type of meat.

Sound: mu

Mnemonic: moon - This is a man, lying down, looking at the moon through a cross-shaped telescope. A shooting star (top right) goes past in the night sky.

Sound: me

Mnemonic: mess - This fish has been skewered with a stake, making a horrible mess.

Sound: mo

Mnemonic: mollusc - This symbol looks like a fisherman's hook. The hook is cast into the sea on the end of a line, and eventually gets a bite. Having reeled it in, however, the fisherman discovers to his dissapointment that he has caught a mollusc on the end of his hook, not a fish.
