Cheers Murph!!! A fitting end to another record-equalling season for the First XV. Victory over Corsham at Slaughtergate on Saturday equates to 13 league victories in Southern Counties (South) for the second time in the Club's history!!1 I also suspect that more personnel have been used in more different positions across the First XV than ever before - testament to the good work put in to prepare our rabid carrot-munchers for the rigours of first team football.
The two's lost out in a tough final league match away at Salisbury II, but in a season which included victories over Club first teams such as Weymouth, Puddletown, Blandford and Westbury plus a stunning away win at Wimborne II - it is testament to the clubs higher playing standards that there is a sense of disappointment that we didn't win more games.
The 3's final record of Won 8 Lost 8 with no games conceded secured 5th place in Dorset & Wilts 2 and had a great time doing it! The key to many good performances was mobility, if their mobile pack was able to get good ball, a backline often containing Micklewright, Roper, Dominey & Eslick were able to cut all-comers to pieces.
The 4th team covered themselves in glory and finished the season in style with a walloping of Melksham (CAT) III. With 8 league wins and dogged determination in the face of the odd - Combe Down - First team, Coco's mob have garnered themselves a record season in only their second year of existence.
