Elves
Elves:
The Elves were the First born. They were the most fairest and wise of all the races. They did not grow weak with age or disease. If they were not slain in war or strife they would live on through the centuries and become more wise and more powerful. One Elf joined the Fellowship - Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood.
Dwarves:
The best stone-carvers and metal workers of Middle-earth. A powerful, hardy race, notable for their long beards. They built vast kingdoms underground. One Dwarf joined the Fellowship - Gimli son of Gloin.

Istari
Istari:
The Istari(wizards) were five Maia who were sent from the Undying Lands to join the fight of Elves and Men against the evil of Middle-earth. Most powerful was Saruman the White who turned to evil. But it was Gandalf who had the greatest wisdom and strength and who led the Fellowship in the journey to destroy the One Ring.
Balrog:
The Balrogs were also Maia, servants of the first Dark Lord Morgoth. It was on the Bridge of Khazad Dum in the Mines of Moria that Gandalf fought and killed a Balrog, but he too plunged into the chasm, and was believed dead

Orcs
Orcs:
An evil race of soldiers of the Dark Lords, Morgoth and Sauron. They were a stunted, black skinned, yellow-fanged and crimson eyed race of cannibal warriors whose only skills were in murder and war.
Uruk-hai:
Of greater strength and endurance then the lesser Orcs, the Uruk-hai were formidable in battle. Saruman bred an army of Uruk-hai to hunt down the Fellowship
