Worship Witham Methodist Church is part of the Methodist Chelmsford Circuit. We are a Protestant Arminian Church with services which are structured on the usual pattern for the Methodists. A typical service is shown below. We use the New English Bible and the Methodist Service Book. Our hymns are taken from Hymns & Psalms and Mission Praise. We keep a prayer book in which worshippers may enter prayer requests for use during the service. Our preachers are drawn from the circuit resulting in a wide variety of views and approaches. Communion is celebrated every month where our minister presides. We have a small choir who lead the singing and contribute introits and benedictions.
Methodists love to sing hymns. It is said that the Methodist Church was "Born in Song". We enjoy hymns from different centuries - ancient and modern, but most Methodists particularly enjoy singing hymns by Charles Wesley - the brother of John. Printed below are the words of one of Wesley's great hymns about the love of God "And Can It Be?"
A Methodist hymn
And can it be that I should gain

Long my imprisoned spirit lay
