1945    SINGLETON MOURNS HER SQUIRE. Singleton has lost its Squire by the death, at the age of 68, of Mr. Thomas Pitt Miller of Singleton Park. His death occurred in a Blackpool nursing home yesterday. He had been in ill-health for some time.

Mr. Miller succeeded to the estate in 1941 on the death of his aunt, Mrs. Isette Miller, widow of Mr. T.H. Miller who, until his death in 1916, was a leading North of England agriculturist and shire horse breeder.

Member of a famous Fylde family, Mr. Miller soon won the goodwill of the farmers and cottagers of the Fylde's model village by his genial personality and frankness. Though he had spent most of his time at Singleton Park since he became owner, his health did not permit him to play so extensive a part in Fylde life as he would have liked. Nevertheless he took a keen interest in the welfare of the 30 farms which covered the estate. Mr. Miller had in his youth been a great traveller in many parts of the world and a big game hunter. He was, too a keen naturalist and stamp collector, and had acquired some fine collections. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Miller, and a son 25‑years‑old Mr. Thomas Miller. Mr. Miller lost two brothers in the last war. A third brother, Mr. Willie Miller, who died before the last war, at one time lived in Thistleton Lodge.

The funeral will be on Saturday at Singleton Park Church at 2p.m.[3]

1945    FUNERAL OF PROMINENT FYLDE MAN. Mr. Thomas Pitt Miller, aged 68, of Singleton Park, near Blackpool, whose funeral took place on Saturday at Singleton Parish Church, was a descendant of the Preston family connected with the firm of Horrockses Miller and Co.

The Miller family have lived at Singleton Park since the residence was built in 1873, and Mr. T.P. Miller left Grange‑over‑Sands to live there four or five years ago, when he inherited the estate on the death of his aunt, Mrs. T. H. Miller.

In his younger days he did big game hunting in Tibet and Vancouver and was keenly interested in philately.

Farmers and staff from the estate attended the funeral which was conducted by Archdeacon Fosbrooke and Rev. J.B. Goodall, vicar of Singleton. Mr. Miller Is survived by his widow and a son.[4]
