EMILY RANSOME
(nee BINYON) and JOHN HENRY RANSOME
Lindale vicarage 1846 In 1846 we left Bowdon, as
my brothers were both in Manchester, Uncle Neild having persuaded Tom to join
Mr Lightly Simpson in a business as Chemist in Princess Street. … John Henry [Ransome] was with him for a
time, and the knowledge he got served him in good stead in after years, when he
was Doctor as well as Priest in his country parishes. [1] 1858 At the Parish Church, Cartmel, on the 22nd inst, by the Rev
R.Hodgson, MA, assisted by the
Rev R.C.Hubbersty MA, incumbent of Cartmel, the Rev J.H.Ransome BA, curate of Warton-with-Freckelton, Lancashire,
to Emily, second daughter of the
late Alfred Binyon Esq, of Merlewood. [2] 1860 Lindale Parsonage. The present Parsonage was
enlarged in 1860 by the Rev J.H.Ransome

1892 DEATH OF THE REV CANON RANSOME - We regret
to announce the death of Canon Ransome,
vicar of Kirkoswald. During a period of eighteen years ministration as
perpetual curate of the chapelry of Lindale (which he resigned in 1877) Mr
Ransome was held in high esteem. His eldest son the Rev H A Ransome holds the
living of Field Broughton, where Mr Ransome assisted less than a month ago in
laying the foundation stone of a new church. Although he had been in failing
health some time and went to the south of France after an attack of influenza
and bronchitis in the spring, the news of his death on Wednesday came as a
great surprise to many of his friends. [4] 1901
