Meeting
3rd October (AMF Peterborough)MINUTES
Present: Mick Knight, Carol Knight, Michaela Knight, Mick Sutterby, Jeff Connolly, Cheryl Hamlet, Steve Hamlet , Aloma Jolly &Joanne Ward(AMF Duty Manager)
The meeting opened at 18:30 at AMF Peterborough
1. Previous Minutes: The £200 being paid by both YBC’s on September 1st
2. County News:
a. The men and ladies did not qualify for the finals this year. The men finished 6th and the ladies 7th.
b. There has been some dispute as how the county teams are picked. Mick has put out a letter asking County Bowlers how they would like the team selected. The result was that the majority would like the top 5 to go plus the Manager/Captains choice of 2.
Also on the letter was the question of how many games should be bowled and where. The consensus was that 6 games should be bowled at each centre but this was only won by one vote.
The Committee on hearing the price from AMF voted to have only 4 games at each as Lakeside would match the £2.45 in line with the committee decision to not take price into account. The price was questioned as it is well known that at 9am you can bowl at £1 per game, but was told non negotiable £2.45 was the price.
This years Adult roll-offs are to be bowled 28th November and 5th/12th December. 4 games in both centres costing £24 in total. (£2 per category entry) Seniors will be able to do the roll offs over 2 days. Any junior competing for an Adult place will have their games to count. AMF will only allow 10 lanes to be used each day.
c. Junior roll-offs will be held on 27th November, U18 will bowl 6 games. U16 andU14 will bowl 6 games and have the games from the Nationals taken into account. Lineage was £1.70 per game, £12 in total.
No jeans will be allowed this year Adult or Junior.
d. the U16‘s bowled at Tamworth today, when we left the girls were in 7th place and the boys 11th.
3. Fundraising: Football Cards have been run by both Gemma and Becky at Lakeside on non league nights, our thanks to both. Geoff is continuing with the cards on Sunday nights and will ask someone to do one on a Thursday night. The Lakeside centre manager has told me that they will run as many football cards as required to pay for the costs of some of the adult bowling. It was hoped that some offer would be forthcoming from the AMF Bowl, Joanne was asked if Tony would consider some sort of sponsorship/help.
4. Mick Knight will be resigning from the post of County Secretary as he feels he is still not trusted at AMF and is followed and questioned when doing County business. He feels someone who actually does the Roll offs would be a suitable candidate. Aloma said he made the same threat last year but carried on. He also feels that a new secretary may get a better rapport with the AMF manager and therefore some support, the price for the roll offs suggests that the support is not there at this time.
5. Instructors Course: Mick Sutterby, Steve Hamlet, Wesley Clark and Sally Wilbur have done the course at Wolverhampton and are waiting to hear the results.
6. Any Other Business:- None
The meeting closed at 19.40 The AGM will be held on 5th December between the Roll offs.
