Planning to use LSD?

If you are plannign to use LSD or now someone that is plaese read the following and bear it in mind.

As has been mentioned the use of LSD has been relatively low, but has been on the increase for the past few years.

LSD is an illegal substance.

LSD was first made illegal in 1966 by the misuse of drugs act. At this time it was still used by many psychotherapists. The Misuse of drugs act of 1973 gave an all out ban on the drug. It is however possible to obtain a special licence, but this has to be granted by the Sectary of State. These are rare, and would usually only be granted for research into the effects and prevention of use of the drug.
As a result it is illegal to produce, possess or supply the drug, or to allow the use of premises for the production, or supply of the drug. LSD (and most other hallucinogens) are class A drugs and are therefore deemed dangerous for consumption.

However, despite these restrictions many will not be deterred.
If you or anyone that you know is either taking or considering taking LSD please take careful note of (click to visit them) before you do.
To briefly restate some of the important points it is always worth trying the drug in a good mood. Although this does not guarantee a 'good' effect it is a small step away from a bad trip. If it is your first time using LSD it is wise to have a babysitter present, who can act to reassure you or to prevent you harming yourself. It is always worth ensuring a safe environment, away from cliffs, and roofs, as well as knives and other sharp objects.
If you are with someone who has taken LSD do not constantly question and pester them as this could cause paranoia. If they are having a bad experience it is possible to alter the trip when it is in progress, by altering the surrounding environment, try changing the music or taking them for a walk somewhere they like. Hallucinogens can seem very real and frightening. Treat these cases with care. Many people will forget that they are using LSD and so it may be advisable to remind them that they are 'tripping' but be aware that this may seem antagonistic.

There are many sources that are available as help and support with LSD and drug abuse. Some of the more helpful ones are listed below. The national drug helpline is freephone and confidential and will not show up on your phone bill. All the below references are based in the UK.
