From the TImes October 5th 1915:
Captain Frank P LACY Royal Engineers, who was killed on August 13th in Flanders, was a young mining and metallurgical engineer of great promise. He took a high place at the Royal School of Mines and won a post graduate course with the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He went to Mexico in 1912 and in two years had made an extraordinarily rapid advance. Shortly after the war broke out he gave up his position in order to come home to take a commission as a second lieutenant with the Cumberland and Westmorland Yeomanry. He was afterwards transferred to the Royal Engineers where he soon showed marked ability in sapping operations. He was awarded the Military Cross and only five days before he was killed had been promoted captain.
