National Curriculum Tests Results 2004
Child achievement is measured in Standard Assessment Tasks or Tests (SATS).
At the end of Key Stage 1 this is done by Teacher Assessment. At the end of
Key Stage 2 when the children are in Year 6 they sit SATS examinations which
are externally marked. The SATS give a level of achievement in a range of 1
– 5. They are also given a Teacher Assessment, which may more fully show
their level of achievement than the test can.
End of Key Stage 1 results
Taken when the children are in Year 2. They should be interpreted with the following
in mind:
- A typical Year 2 pupil will be at Level 2
- A Level 3 is an exceptionally good result
- A Level 4 is extremely unusual by the age of 7
