EXERCISE HEALTH CHECKLISTThe first and most important safety check to be completed before exercise is the one on yourself.You must be of suitable health to do exercise.This is why it is a legal requirement for health and fitness clubs to complete some basic medical screening of a person when they first start an exercise programme.
If you have not done any regular exercise for some time,you need to seek qualified advice before starting.
Please answer as appropriate.
1.Are you over 45 and have not exercised reglary over the past 5 years?
2.Are you currently recovering from any form of muscular or joint injury ?
3.Do you smoke 10 or more cigarettes a day ?
4.Do you suffer from shortness of breath or light-headedness after any gentle exertion ?
5.Do you take any daily medication that may be affected by exercise ?
6.Do you have diabetes and take insulin to control it ?
7.Do you have a history of heart disease or blood clots ?
8.Are you under the care of a doctor for any heart ,circulatory or respiratory condition ?
9.Is there history of heart disease in your family ?
10.Do you have chronic arthritic problems ?
11.Do you suffer from epilepsy ?
12.Have you ever sufferred a head injury ?
13.Are you pregnant ?
If you have answered YES to any of these questions it is important for you to consult your own doctor before starting any NEW programme of exercise.
