The author is currently Vice-Principal ‘Assessment for Learning’ at Greensward College in Hockley, Essex. Greensward is an over-subscribed 11-18 mixed technology college with a genuinely comprehensive intake.He graduated from St. Martin’s College, Lancaster in 1993 with a PGCE in English, Drama and Media Studies. Since then, he worked for two years at a secondary modern school in Southend-on-Sea, before transferring to Greensward in 1995.
His roles there have included Assistant Director of English, Director of English, Assistant Vice-Principal and Vice-Principal. At the moment, he is responsible for all aspects of learning at Greensward.
The author is a qualified trainer through the McQuaig group, for Edward de Bono’s ‘6 Thinking Hats’ and the ‘Zing’ software/hardware thinking skills package. He has also worked for the DfES on a number of projects, including ‘The Classroom of the Future’, Online Continuous Professional Development, the Fast Track Teachers Programme and the National Standards, with Hay McBer.
