There are some areas where a website should not go and although access to some "last letters home" was made available it was decided not to use them. For bereaved recipients these are perhaps the most tragic of all the keepsakes of war. Again recollections of the last time a wife saw her husband, or a mother her son, are best left to a sadness which can't be conveyed. "FOR YOUR TOMORROW"
It is regrettable that as the two World War generations fade into history more and more items from this time, some originally of great sentimental value, end up in antique or curiosity shops. It should not be forgotten that with some of these items many laid down their lives to receive them. As long as wars happen there will always be keepsakes. Of those who fought and died in two World Wars perhaps the best keepsake of all is this: "AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN, AND IN THE MORNING, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM." The following may also be of interest: "198 SQUADRON OF THE RAF" on http://www.198sqn-raf.co.uk
