PURPOSE OF THE KNOW YOUR TALENTS PROGRAMME

The Know Your Talents seminar gives participants the opportunity to identify and list their skills, qualities and strengths, i.e., their primary selling points to a potential employer. This will provide participants with information that they can use to complete application forms, covering letters and CVs, and in a job interview.

PROGRAMME CONTENT

      Participants will:

      • understand the value of identifying their job skills
      • recognise that skills from outside the workplace can also be relevant to a job
      • identify their skills, qualities and strengths using a variety of techniques and processes
      • produce a list of their favourite and most appropriate job skills
      • learn the importance of presenting the skills, qualities and strengths they have identified: on an application form, in a covering letter, on their CV, and at interview.
      • produce a "core skills and qualities" section (for use on application forms)
      • compile a personal profile (for use on their CV)
      • learn how to effectively complete an application form
      • write a covering letter to go with the application form (if relevant)

TRAINING TECHNIQUES

Skills will be identified using a variety of techniques and processes, including an original "Skills Rummy" card game. By the end of the workshop every participant will have a list of transferable skills and key personal qualities that can be included on application forms, in their CV or in a covering letter and promoted at job interviews.
