My first interest in railways was not initially that of photography, I enjoyed working on my local preserved railway,
the Kent and East Sussex line in the UK. This was back in 1962!. Here I began to learn my trade in mechanical and electrical engineering, this led to a
long carreer in the UK rail industry, one which I am still enjoying.
As my railway interests developed, and with the aid of free travel I started to enjoy overseas rail travel, my camera became a useful tool to record these adventures.
Unfortunatly my early standard of photography was pretty awful, tending to be "snap shots" rather than photographs. A good standard of photograhy did not develop
until the passing of steam traction in the UK and most of Western Europe.
This section of my site shows some of those early "snaps" as well as a few from more recent times. Whilst the photos are not as dramatic as my more recent work I
felt it important to display some of my early photos for their historic content and continuity, hope you can see an improvement!
