WELCOME to Model Helicopters Helicopters, in the large scale of things are a comparatively recent addition to the world of aviation. Main development of the helicopter started in the early 1930's, coming of the back of the Auto-giro. It was the Italians and Germans who forged ahead, setting height, distance and endurance records, with the Focke Fw 223 Drache, becoming the worlds first production helicopter. One name however stood out from the crowd, that was Igor Sikorsky. After many hours of experimenting with different fuselage and rotor configurations, he produced the VS-300 with a single vertical plane tail rotor. The VS-300 became the first rotorcraft to serve with the US armed forces it also became Britains first military production helicopter, serving with the RAF and the Fleet Air Arm.

And so it is that military helicopters are my main interset. To date I have completed six models with one on going at the present. One day I will endeavour to complete a civilian operated helicopter model. Over the next few pages I have posted pics and a little information on each of the models. I thought this was a good way to show them rather than just collecting dust on my shelf. In no way am I a professional model maker, just an enthusiast, and so would be gratefull for any top tips and ideas to improve my skill. I hope you enjoy the site. James...
