Clubmark is a Sport England Club Development programme (for
more information follow the link to the right of this page) which helps
sports clubs implement a total of 28 checks across four areas:
- Coaching and Competition;
- Duty of Care and Child Protection;
- Sports Equity and Ethics;
- Club Management.
Once a Club has fulfilled these they are awarded the official Clubmark
kitemark - recognised accrediation and the benchmark of a quality club.
Where does CAPS fit in?
Sport England Clubmark is only awarded through national governing bodies
of sport, not by Sport England to individual clubs. The national governing
body for netball is England Netball who encourage club development via
their Club Action Planning Scheme (CAPS): see the link to the right
of the page for more information.
What does CAPS add to the process?
England Netball and Sport England worked together to align Sport England
Clubmark with CAPS Bronze level. England Netball sets further, more
challenging criteria that qualify successful applicants for the higher
level awards of Silver and Gold.
Do other local clubs have accreditation?
At the time of writing, only two netball clubs in Cambridgeshire have
CAPS accreditation: Hawks has gold, the other has silver.
How did Hawks get Accreditation?
Through the submission of a 19 page, self-evaluation form proving,
with documentary evidence, that Hawks fulfilled the specified criteria.
Hawks' evidence included copies of certificates, codes of conduct, registers,
press cuttings and even the fundraising calendar (which really impressed
the judges!).
